10 ubiquitous things we could live without

05 Aug

Something is said to be ubiquitous when it is so commonplace that we no longer question its place in our lives, and are shocked when it is missing.

As a person who tends to challenge conventional wisdom and common sense, I like to imagine what life would be like without certain items that most people acquire without second thought. Here are some examples:

1. Television
2. Mobile phone
3. Tablet computer
4. Car
5. Microwave oven
6. Facebook account
7. Compulsory schooling
8. Internet access
9. Dessert
10. Supermarkets

I’ll spend some time soon covering each of these in turn. In the meantime, why don’t you share some things you feel you could live without?
